Committee to Consider Three Bills during Wednesday Meeting

The Senate Finance Committee will consider three bills, including a measure to support Pennsylvania’s volunteer fire departments, at its meeting set for Wednesday, January 31, according to Committee Chairman Scott Hutchinson. 

The meeting is set for 10 a.m. in Room 8E-A in the East Wing of the State Capitol Complex, Harrisburg.

House Bill 291 amends the Tax Reform Code to eliminate the inheritance tax rate for transfers of property to or for the use of a child aged 21 years or younger.  This transfer must be from a natural parent, adoptive parent or step-parent.

Senate Bill 370 amends Title 24 to remove prospective non-public employees of the Pennsylvania School Boards Association (PSBA) from eligibility for public pension benefits. 

Senate Bill 952 amends the Tax Reform Code to exempt food and beverage sold by volunteer fire companies for fundraising efforts from the sales and use tax.
