Local Well Plugging Project Receives $20,624 State Grant

The Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) today (September 18) approved $20,624 for a local well plugging project, according to Senator Scott Hutchinson.

The Western Pennsylvania Conservancy received a $20,624 Orphan or Abandoned Well Plugging Program grant to plug two oil wells in the Tippery Meadows Natural Area in Cranberry Township, Venango County.

“I’m pleased to see the Commonwealth Financing Authority is using some of its Marcellus Impact Fee funding for this purpose,” said Senator Hutchinson.  “This type of project is arguably the most appropriate use of state revenue derived from the unconventional oil and gas industry.”

The CFA was established as an independent agency of the Commonwealth to administer Pennsylvania’s economic stimulus packages. The CFA holds fiduciary responsibility over the funding of programs and investments in Pennsylvania’s economic growth.
