Senator Hutchinson seeks applicants for Valley Forge Military College

Senator Scott E. Hutchinson has announced that his office is accepting applicants for the State Military College Legislative Appointment Initiative Program.  Pursuant to Act 29 of 2012, legislators may establish a selection committee to review applications and award one appointment annually to Valley Forge Military College.

To be eligible for the program, applicants must be Pennsylvania residents and have achieved a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale) and a combined math and verbal SAT score of at least 1000 (or an ACT score of 20).  A recipient of an appointment through the program is eligible for a financial award of up to $17,500 per year, dependent on high school GPA.   Candidates may apply at any time during the fall of their senior year until February 15th for fall 2014 enrollment.  For more information, or to request an application, please contact Senator Hutchinson’s office by calling 814-677-6345.

Daniel J. Fink of Oil City was selected to receive the 2013 appointment for enrollment at VMCA.  He is a June 2013 graduate of Venango Catholic High School and is the son of John and Erin Fink of Oil City.  Daniel successfully completed his Plebe System and was recognized as a full member of the Valley Forge Military College Corps of Cadets in a ceremony on October 5.
