The Senate adopted Senator Scott Hutchinson’s Resolution on Monday (April 13) designating the week of April 13 through 18, 2015 as “Local Government Week” and April 15 as “Local Government Day” in Pennsylvania.
“We sometimes view Pennsylvania as one big government entity, but we must never forget that our Commonwealth is a diverse state made up of 2,565 separate municipalities, each with its own specific local strengths, issues and concerns,” said Senator Hutchinson, Chairman of the Senate Local Government Committee. “The fact is government begins at the local level. Municipal governments are there to address neighborhood concerns and provide for the wellbeing of the people of the community. With that in mind, we set aside Local Government Week as a way to recognize the accomplishments of local governments and officials.”
