Butler Township Volunteer Fire District Receives $15,400 State Grant

Butler Township Volunteer Fire District was awarded a $15,400 state grant from the Department of Community and Economic Development to support the recent merger of three local fire companies, according to Senator Scott Hutchinson.

The Municipal Assistance Program funds will be used to help offset the costs incurred through the merger of the Meridian Community, Greenwood Village and Lyndora Volunteer Fire Companies into a single Butler Township Volunteer Fire District. This included equipment upgrades and rebranding.

The merger of the departments in January 2014 reduced overall costs and aided in sustaining emergency services in the community.
