Warren General Hospital Recognized for Excellence in Patient Safety

HARRISBURG –Sen. Scott Hutchinson (R-21) and Rep. Kathy Rapp (R-65) congratulated Warren General Hospital for being one of 21 hospitals recognized statewide by the he Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania (HAP) for their stellar performance ensuring patients’ safety.

“Warren General Hospital serves an important healthcare need in our community and continues to do so with the highest level of quality and safety for its staff, patients and their loved ones,” said Hutchinson.  “I congratulate the entire Warren General Hospital Team on this well-deserved recognition.”

HAP honors the top performing hospitals each year through their Excellence in Patient Safety Recognition program. This recognition reflects the extraordinary steps Warren General Hospital is taking to prevent health care-associated infections and improve patient-safety outcomes.

“I am pleased once again to applaud everyone at Warren General Hospital for taking extraordinary steps and doing whatever is necessary to save lives,” said Rapp. “The hard work and dedication of these highly-skilled, irreplaceable doctors, nurses and other frontline heroes in achieving the lowest rates of health care-associated infections continues to raise the bar of excellence and Warren General Hospital’s well-earned reputation as the unshakable cornerstone of our regional health care system.”

The top-performing hospitals are identified by HAP using data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Healthcare Safety Network. To be recognized, hospitals must perform better than the mean standardized infection ratio in three key measures: central line-associated bloodstream infections, catheter-associated urinary tract infections, and Clostridioides difficile infections.
